ITEM # SGSH-1
"ORIGINAL SHIP'S HATCH"
A truly authentic, museum quality
ship's hatch from
an old sail vessel of the late
19th, to very early 20th century.
It cannot be seen in the photos,
but just behind the carving "Ship"
& "Chandlery" are areas
that were sealed & scrimshawed with two sail
vessels in opposing directions,
later a very professional carver added
the carvings shown over the
scrimshawed areas leaving 90% of it still visible.
This is a very large & heavy
hatch in like new condition!!!
It stands 60" tall, 30" wide,
x 2 1/4" deep at the wood, & 2 1/2" at
the top & bottom forged
steel bands.
There is also a large bolt that
is inside the horizontal center to keep the
boards intact.
A gorgeous "SHIP CHANDLERY"
sign that would look great in a seafood restaurant,
ship's store, boatyard,
nautical museum entry, or home by the sea!!!
This hatch weighs a very hefty
95 pounds!!!
AWESOME MUSEUM QUALITY!!!
