compass card set in a large
The glass crystal & detailed compass card is
6" in diameter x 3" high/deep.
The helmet is made of nickel plated brass,
9 1/4" diameter at the base,
7 1/2" diameter at the center, & 11" tall.

The compass is fully functional, & contains its original light
fixture & wiring for night viewing under red light.

A very unique, & original World War II, Naval Ship's
Boxed/Helmet binnacle compass.
The unit is complete with not only its original box but its
nickel plated brass helmet.
In excellent & fully functional condition.
The compass card is 6 1/2" diameter, liquid dampened, & made of cast bronze
with a ballast of lead to reduce the motion when the ship is rolling.

"RUSSIAN MILITARY BINNACLE COMPASS"
An original Russian Military boxed/helmet binnacle compass.
A Cold War Era Item, in good, fully functional condition.
The helmet is made of aluminum alloy, has two oil burners,
and the compass is of solid bronze.
The compass is liquid dampened, with a very nice and detailed card.
The unit comes with 2 instruction booklets, and a certified map of
the Russian Waters the unit was certified/calibrated.
The helmet is 11 1/2" wide x 12" deep x 10" high
with a 5" diameter viewing window.
The actual compass is 6" in diameter x 4 3/4" deep
The box is 12 1/2" wide x 12 1/2" deep x 12" high

"DRY/ LINE OF SITE BINNACLE COMPASS"
A very early 20th century, dry compass, with line of site attachment
called & marked on the compass card
THE WHITE ILLUMINATED
This unit did not automatically follow magnetic north as most compasses do, it
was rotated by hand using the center brass adjustment knobs to line up,
or plot course changes with prominent objects on the horizon.
The unit is mounted in a brass case with a swivel binnacle mount that can be locked
& unlocked via a side screw. The units also has a removable brass cap, & lead weighted
twist in base that contains a lighting fixture to illuminate the compass card.
The compass card is mounted under glass with a folding line of site attachment
which can spin independent of the compass card.
The compass card is also marked:
