U.S. MARITIME COMMISSION
BAROMETERS

The United States Maritime Commission was an independent executive
agency of the U.S. Federal Government created by the
Merchant Marine Act of 1936.
Congress passed the Act June 29th, 1936 to replace the
United States Shipping Board created during World War 1.
The purpose of the board was to replace, & modernize
Merchant Marine Cargo Vessels of the WW1 era.
The commission  lasted until 1950 when it was renamed the
U.S. Maritime Administration.

The commission lasted from 1936-1950 & it is believed based on the serial #
that this barometer was made in 1942 at the start of WWII.
6" diameter back, 5" diameter face x 3" deep
Very hard to find item, especially in the excellent condition of this unit.
