"FOLDING KEDGE ANCHOR"
An early 20th century design
made to reduce space on deck due to the fact that not only can the
stock bar fold flat , but also the fluke and palms fold as well
and can be pinned to remain closed for easy stow away.
The unit has a triangular foundry mark at the shanks center.
The unit when folded is
36" L x 6" W x 5 " H
The open position as shown is
SHANK: 36" L top to bottom ring
STOCK BAR: 28 1/2" from finial to finial
FLUKE: 28 1/2" from Spaded palm to palm
PALMS: 6 1/2" L x 4 1/4" W
TOP RING: 4" diameter x 1/2" thick
BOTTOM RING: 1 1/2" diameter x 3/4" thick
LIVE WEIGHT: 32 pounds

"BLACKSMITH FORGED GRAPNEL ANCHOR"

A really nice blacksmith made grapnel anchor.
This anchor was not made in any mass production line, the
maker put their time into this one, as the casting lines and
forged claws were matched , and bent with near perfection.
There is a center bottom ring for a second line in the
event the unit becomes fouled on a rocky bottom.

The unit is 24" from its base to extended top ring x 1 1/4" thick.
The five claws (one hidden by the shank) are
15" in diameter x 3/4" thick
The top ring is 3" diameter x 3/4" thick

"BLACKSMITH FORGED KEDGE ANCHOR"

A very nice, turn of the 1900's Kedge Anchor.
Blacksmith made with near perfection in its lines
and balance.
SHANK: 36" L x 1 1/2" thick.
STOCK BAR: 35" L with 1 1/2" finials at each end/one curved.
FLUKE: 23 1/2" W.
PALMS: a combination of a triangle with a spaded tip
6 1/2" L x 5" W
TOP RING: 4" diameter x 1/2" thick
With a 30 pound foundry mark at the
Fluke center

"BLACKSMITH FORGED KEDGE ANCHOR"

Another really nice foundry made Kedge Anchor.
Somewhat larger than PFAN-3, but with the same basic design.
SHANK : 45" L x 1 1/2" Diameter
STOCK BAR: 41" L x 1 1/4" Diameter with
2 1/4" Finials at each end, one straight and one curved.
FLUKE : 27" from Palm to Palm.
PALMS: 10" L x 5" W with a diamond shape.
TOP RING 5" diameter x 1/2" thick.
The stock bar has a slot cut near the shank with an
attacked original "KEY" for locking the unit open during use.
There is a foundry mark in the center of the Palms.
Live weight 70 pounds.
Circa 1st half 20th century.

"HOME MADE/BLACKSMITH FORGED KEDGE ANCHOR"

A very nice looking, Home/Blacksmith made Kedge anchor.
A combination of forged iron and steel.
SHANK : 50" x 1 3/4" thick
STOCK BAR : 51" L and able to break down in two parts
and be completely removed from the shank.
Finials at both ends, one curved one straight.
FLUKE 30" W from palm to palm.
PALMS 6" L x 3" W flattened and curved by heat and hand hammering.
TOP RING: 6" Diameter x 1" thick, very heavy duty.
Live weight of approx. 75 pounds.
