An original , all brass, early 20th century Perko Masthead
Lantern.
This lantern was also used as a Bow lamp.
This lantern is in near perfect condition & has
been kept nicely polished over the years.
The lantern is complete with its large clear glass
fresnel & twist & lock
bottom oil burner.
The front of the lantern has an attached brass tag
that states:
"PERKO"

"DURKEE MARINE MASTHEAD LANTERN"
A huge & original, masthead oil lantern from the
famous marine manufacturer
DURKEE MARINE
Known for its products aboard Merchant Marine, &
Naval Vessels
of the World War I Era.
This lantern is quite large, made of early galvanized
steel, brass & bronze.
The unit has a lower brass twist in burner, font,
& glass chimney.
All 100% original & in excellent operational condition.
The burner tank can hold a huge 16 ounces of oil!!!
The unit also has a large ten rung original
clear glass fresnel
The unit stands
13 1/2" wide x 11 1/2" deep x 19 1/2" high
26" high to the top of extended hanger
With a very hefty weight
of 26 pounds!!!

"BRITISH SHIP'S MASTHEAD LANTERN"
An original British Ship's Masthead Lantern, made of early galvanized
steel, & bronze.
Complete with its original double glass fresnel, reflector &
oil burner.
The construction & operation of this lantern was thought
out quite well.
The oil burner has two independent wicks & adjusters, as well
as a rear fill & side drain.
The oil burner & reflector also has a very unusual hole &
glass window to allow
light from the burner to illuminate the rear door access area when
servicing.
The unit was made by
"BEC"
in which the logo is stamped into the hanger
tension knob.
The rear access door is stamped
"Made In England"
& the front of the unit has an attached
brass tag that states:
"Masthead Patt. 25A"
which is believed to be the mfg & patent
year of 1925.
The unit has a nice rust patina giving it
a bronze appearance.
All parts are original & in fully functional
condition.
The unit stands
16" tall with its hanger upright, 7 1/2" wide
x 8" deep
with a hefty weight of 9.5 pounds.
