DECORATIVE SHELL FISHING
EQUIPMENT

ITEM # PFSF-1
"BLACKSMITH MADE SCALLOP DREDGE"

A  blacksmith made scallop dredge, made
back in the early/mid 1900's before shellfish
dredging was limited or illegal.
Even back then dredges like this one were
allowed only if pulled by sail, to collect
scallops which reside "shell open" on most bay's sandy floor.

These are very nice and decorative items for display
in a home by the sea, seafood restaurant, or even a local
museum showing old equipment of its local fisherman.
Great for wall mounting.
 59" H x 31" W x 12" D
Circa 1950's

"HAND HELD CLAM RAKE HEAD"

Circa 1960/70's
Used on Long Island's Eastern End Bay Area.

"MUD CLAM RAKE HEADS"

A set of late 20th century,  custom made
"MUD CLAM RAKE HEADS"
All teeth and baskets in good condition with
a nicely aged rust patina.
Mud rakes differ slightly from sand rakes, as they require
extra steel attachments ,either at the sides, or
across the basket at the pole attachment, or both.
The top rake in the photo has side attachments, and the lower one
has a large cross attachment.
This was done to prevent the head from sinking to deep
in the mud and making it hard or impossible for the clam digger
to work the rake in the proper manner.

Teeth 4 1/4" L

"VERY EARLY 20TH CENTURY EEL / FISH SPEAR"

A museum quality, early 20th century eel / fish spear.
I have seen just the fork heads of such items in museums
around the bays of Long Island, one in particular, which
has a number of them is the
HORTON POINT LIGHTHOUSE MUSEUM.
To find the entire item in tact with its original handmade
wooden handle is a little harder to find.
The photo above was split into two sections so you could view
the first , and last sections of this
105" long item.
A great decorative nautical fixture
